Me and the Website

A husband, father, developer, entrepreneur, and day trader. Love to code, windsurf, sail, canoe, hike, run, and now day trade…

I was curious with Web 3.0 technologies like Ethereum Name Service and InterPlanetary File System and since I’m learning how to day trade, decided to combine both and create a trading blog site built on Web 3.0. When I do really bad at trading I block it out and code, hard. This website is uploaded in the IPFS and stored into hundreds of devices across the internet. The hostname oldmansbull.eth (or oldmansbull.eth.limo for non web 3.0 browsers) is a token in Ethereum’s blockchain and managed with their decentralized ENS; no traditional DNS servers are translating the hostname. This should make oldmansbull.eth close to immutability. The blogs are originally written in Obsidian, which I use as a knowledge base. Since Obsidian was designed to run locally and not in the cloud, I use Syncthing to keep the Obsidian files synchronized between several PCs and my mobile device. Hugo, with help from a small utility I wrote, then takes the blogs and builds a static website that is eventually uploaded to Github and automatically deployed by Fleek. Fun stuff!

The plan is to write daily blogs of my day trading and post them in the federated universe. As evidenced by my stats page, I am a terrible day trader, so do not come here to learn anything about day trading. Well, you could try doing the opposite of me, which may pay off ;). Enjoy!
